Stepp Earns Medal at Prestigious Culver Cross Country Invite

At Saturday's huge Culver Invite, KV's Cross Country Teams performed very well against many of the state's top teams, the KV ladies placing 12th as a team out of 21 scoring squads. This was KV's first time running at Culver at the high school level, their Open Divison-Varsity Girls, included 173 runners. Sr. Brittany Stepp continued her stellar week, running an excellent race and finishing in 29th place to earn a much coveted medal (top 30 places). Stepp's time was 21:10.6, with a first mile of 6:00. Classmates Kaylin Orsburn and Allison Rockley also had top 45 finishes, placing 35th and 44th, respectively. Orsburn finished in 21:21.2, a season-best, with Rockley in at 21:40.5. They had mile splits of 6:07 and 6:11. Freshman Allison Schultheis stayed consistent with a near personal record time of 22:15.6, good for 68th place, with a first mile of 6:19. Lauren VanderWall-152nd in 24:42.8 with a first mile of 6:50, Boo Beenes-156th in 25:06.9 (mile in 7:04) and Kate Lott-161st in 25:13.4 (first mile of also 7:04) rounded out KV's 7 runners. In the reserve race (574 runners) Gabby Dumont was 442nd in a time of 27:13.5, with a first mile of 7:30. After a first mile of 8:15ish, Maddi Nomanson was 478th in a time of 28:03.9. Travis Conley-11th and Bryce Gawronski-17th, earned more hardware for KV's boys, as they finished a very strong 9th as a team. Great effort, both KV cross teams!
