Home » Girls' Cross Country NewsGreat Night at Sectionals For Both KV Cross TeamsOctober 10, 2012 Kankakee Valley High SchoolIt was a stellar night for both KV Cross Country teams at last night's Rensselaer Sectional. The ladies, behind Michelle Kent's individual first place in 19:51.99, (more than a minute faster than she ran in 2011), brought home their third team title in the past 6 years with 47 points. Kent, just a soph., becomes KV's first individual winner in many years. Jr. stars Allison Rockley, Brittany Stepp and Kaylin Orsburn were outstanding as well, taking 4th, 5th, and 6th places. Rockley ran 20:44.49, Stepp 20:44.92, and Orsburn 20:55.04. Sr. Rachel Krupa gutted out an important 35th place in 24:25.04, some 35 seconds faster and 22 places higher than in 2011 to seal the team title. Kate Lott was 37th, with Joli Jungels-48th, both running courageous races. The Lady Kougars advance to their 6th straight Regional to be held at New Prairie HS, this Sat. at 10:00 CST. They will be joined by their male counterparts, coached by Tim Adams, who ran the race of their year last night, grabbing a very strong 2nd to an excellent Morgan Twp. squad, with 49 pts. Soph. Bryce Gawronski-6th in 17:35.60 led the way, followed closely by jr. Mike Nava-7th in 17:39.4, and sr. leader Brandon Hazlett-8th in 17: 43.13. Nava ran the race of his brief HS cross career! Fr. Isaac Tillema was a strong-13th in 18:09.16 with jr. Robert Svitek-15th in a solid 18:10.16. Jacob Stemper was 20th, and Andrew Schultheis-31st, also running strong. Excellent meet by both teams, and best wishes at Regional.
