At last night's Crown Point Swim Sectional prelims, vs. some of the top teams and individuals in the area, and state, the girls' swim team had their best meet of the season with a whopping 13 personal records or season-bests. They also advanced many swimmers to Saturday's finals; the top 8 move to the championship finals, 9th through 16th advance to the consolation finals. The 200 medley relay team of Morgan Bell, Alysia Beenes, Leanna Mulloy, and Audra Lewis were 6th in 2:08.58 to advance to the championship finals, with Bell swimming a PR of 32.89 for her 50 back leg. Classmates Abbey Sittema and Mulloy were also very strong, tying for 12th in 27.24, and advancing as well. That time is a PR for Mulloy and moves her to 8th all-time. Babicka then swam a PR in the 100 free in 57.94, good for 4th all-time, and advancing in 9th place. Sittema joins her partner with a very solid 12th, in 59.82. Brittany Stepp also PR'd in that event by roughly 3 seconds in 1:07.22. The 200 free relay provided KV with its top finish of the night, a SB 4th place in 1:50.98. Powering to that fine finish were the quartet of Sittema, L. Strong, Lewis, and Babicka. The 100 backstroke saw KV advance all three swimmers to the finals: Bell, Kate Lott, and Rhoades. Bell was 11th, Lott tied for 12th in a PR of 1:12.37, and Rhoades was 16th. Beenes swam another strong 100 breaststroke, good for 11th in 1:20.91.
