Home » Football NewsHawaii has a STAR in Kiatrell ZacheryNovember 2, 2010 By Kristopher Gordon of KG's Korner
All the way from the Pacific, Kapolei High School’s CB Kiatrell Zachery has caught D1Spects attention with his jaw dropping plays and incredible athleticism. Zachery also letters in Track and Field, and will be adding basketball to that list this year. Zachery maintains a 3.5 GPA, and last year sophomore has already attracted the likes of Oregon St, University of Hawaii, and Arizona. Kiatrell who is an Atlanta native is still deciding his college future, and would like a chance at the southern conferences. Zachery told D1Spects, “Georgia and Florida are both states known for thecompetition in the skill area positions. “I feel I can play with the best of them". Zachery is ranked in the top 20 in the 2010 National Underclassmen Combine in Arizona and is one of Hawaii's emerging prospects. In Track & Field Kiatrell Zachery was a member of the 2010 OIA West Championship Varsity Team, participating in the Triple Jump, High Jump, Long Jump, and 400 m 4x4 team. Zachery is still learning the game and Scout.com said about Kiatrell, “Kiatrell [Zachery] has raw talent and will get better with experience. He [Zachery] possesses that “it” factor players rarely have”. What I like about Kiatrell is he’s always looking for ways to improve his game. He is very passionate about football, takes the off-season serious, and it shows with his play-making ability on the field. Trainer Coach Bo Bell always tells players “don’t waste time in the gym.” Only Kiatrell uses gym time as his personal room while sometimes falling asleep in there, he is surely a gym rat. Kiatrell makes things happen on the field whether its special teams, offense, or defense. Zachery has the skill set of a Devin Hester; breaking tackles and is dangerous in the open field with his blinding speed. When Kiatrell gets the ball he brings the excitement with his “it” factor, long story short Zachery was bred to play football. School budget cuts have forced his high school to cut the season short to only six games and Zachery will contemplate transferring next season to either Georgia or California. Wherever Zachery decides to do, he brings the athleticisms, grades, and heart to get the job done.
