The FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) has been established for over seventy years with earnest efforts to improve the abilities of its members so that they can be successful in life.
The FBLA was established in the year 1937 by Dr. Howard L Forkner. Since its introduction into the world, the FBLA has helped a substantial number of people learn what it takes to make it in the business world. Today, there are 215,000 high school members all across the nation.
How exactly does this organization help one’s business skills?
“The Future Business Leaders of America allows members to be creative and prepare for the ‘business world,” said Mr. Joseph Romano, advisor of the FBLA Club at Irvington High School.
“They learn how to write a proper resume for job interviews, college, etc. Members also participate in workshops that allow them to have a better understanding of how businesses work, by participating in workshops they are able to determine how the ‘business world’ functions.”
A proud alumnus of the FBLA, for many years, Mr. Romano has served as the adviser of the FBLA at Irvington High School. He is well known for his accomplishments as the FBLA adviser and is very active in the Irvington Community. Last year, Mr. Romano participated in the FBLA food drive, where he had the FBLA members collect cans of foods, along with clothing to donate to the Irvington Family Center.
“Just imagine the hands-on learning a student can receive from someone who has endured the trials of business,” Mr. Romano continued.
“Do not think that this club is all about written work. We have two blood drives per year, have food drives, and host bake sales to raise money. Not only is that a great way to raise money but it also provides a way for members to be able to put the skills they have learned to the test in a real world application of selling products.”
Are you interested in joining the FBLA and not sure how? Well, here’s some good news for you. The membership for the FBLA is a price of $10. Mr. Romano is located in room 601. He will be more than happy to speak with you about joining the 35 members that currently exist in the school. Meetings for the club are held every Thursday. Not only is this a great way to help develop your business skills, but this club also looks great on a college application.
Freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are all invited to develop skills that will benefit them in the very near future. Become a part of the Future Business Leaders of America.
