December 31, 2011Bedford Sports
Fri. Dec. 30 – at Perrysburg
The Mules peppered Perrysburg’s goalie with 62 shots, ending the 2011 portion of their season with a 9-2 victory and a 6-3 record. The win wasn’t as easy as it would appear. Bedford didn’t take the lead until late in the second period. They added three more goals for a 6-2 lead going into the second intermission, then scored all three third period goals.
The Yellowjackets held a 1-0 lead after the first period despite being outshot 18-3. Josh Hoogendoorn tied the game with an early second period goal, but Perrysburg regained the lead on a short-handed goal two minutes later. Jimmy Schulty tied the game again on a power play goal during the same penalty. It remained tied until Travis Krider scored a short-handed goal while two teammates were in the penalty box.
A minute later Noah Szenderski scored to make it 4-2, followed with goals by Dominic Pisanti and Brenden Campbell. Both Szenderski and Pisanti are on four game goal scoring streaks.
In the last four minutes of the game Bedford scored three times to seal the victory. Kyle Kuhr scored on a power play, then both Grant Harper and Jacob Ansara scored their first goals as Mules.
