Varsity ladies move to 3-1, JV undefeated

The Bedford varsity girls soccer team won its second consecutive match and improved to 3-1-0 on the year with a 2-0 victory Thursday evening at Dearborn Heights Crestwood.

Mia Stroud scored in the 46th minute on direct kick from 30 yards out into the top left corner.

Cara Stang added an insurance goal with 7:33 left off assists from Abbey Oswald and Kortney Sheeder.

Grace Brown made four saves in the first half, while Marley Brereton recorded four stops in the second half to combine for the shutout.

Bedford held an 18-12 advantage in shots.

Since this weekend's tournament at Bay City Western was canceled, the Kicking Mules will next be in action on Tuesday vs. Chelsea in the home opener starting at 7 p.m.

The Bedford junior varsity girls soccer squad remained unbeaten with a 1-1 draw Thursday evening at Dearborn Heights Crestwood.

The Kicking Mules are 2-0-2 on the year.

The Chargers scored in the ninth minute of the contest, but Bedford knotted the game at one in the 59th minute on a goal by Casie Deiley off an assist from Maddie Weiss.

Rachel Schott made two saves in the contest.

The J.V. team will also host Chelsea on Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
