Bedford Athletic Boosters are proud to announce the winners of the
2012-2013 Mudge Spencer/Chet Karpanty Scholarships for Outstanding Senior Scholar

Ellen Hays - Graduated 2013
Hays developed into one of the best volleyball players in Michigan,earned second team All State honors last year and is one of this year’sfinalists for Michigan’s Miss Volleyball. She averaged 7.4 digs per game with more than 1,100 last season. Now the Bedford senior has committed to the University of Toledo for college volleyball. “I feel like I’m really ready to be on my own,” Hays said. “I started taking to the volleyball aspect of it my sophomore year (in high school). Basketball was my first love. Volleyball just hit me. I decided I wanted to play it at the next level.”
She plans to study science education and become a high school teacher. She already has thought about becoming a graduate assistant in her fifth year at UT.

Mitch Rogaliner - Graduated 2013
Bedford boasts of one of the premier wrestling programs in the state of Michigan. Bedford’s storied wrestling program has produced 11 state championship teams and 34 individual state champions. However, Mitch Rogaliner has rewrote the record books. Mitch became Bedford’s All Time Career Wins Leader with 204 career wins. Mitch made it to the State Title match each of his four years bringing home two State Individual Titles to Bedford. He was the first freshman in Monroe County history to win a state title. He was captain of the Bedford squad that reached the state quarterfinals each of the last 2 years.
Mitch graduated with a 3.93 GPA. He was a MHSAA Scholar Athlete Recipient, and he was a 4 time Monroe County First Team Wrestler winning Wrestler Of The Year honors in 2012. Mitch was a 2 time Bob Andrew’s Booster Award Winner. Other Honors include Science Student Of The Year Award, Officer in NHS, member of student council, and member of the German Honor Society. Mitch accepted an athletic scholarship to wrestle for the Michigan State Spartans. He will be pursuing a degree in Pre Med.
Mitch is the son of Doug and Debbie Rogaliner of Lambertville
