September 8, 2013By Larry Mauter of Bedford High School
The Bedford Boys cross country team competed in the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival this Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio. The Tiffin Carnival is one of the premier meets in the nation. The Kicking Mules place 29th in the 41 team field in the Division 1 race. Leading the way for the Mules was freshman Dominic Adduci, who crossed the line in a personal best time of 17:20. Senior Adam Blaida was close behind, finishing in 17:37. Sophomore Adam Audet also posted a personal best, finishing in 17:44, with Tyler Benore and Max Lezon close behind, crossing the line in 18:01 and 18:03 respectively.
In the Varsity B race, Chase Duvall led the Mules, finishing in 18:51. John Nocella showed great improvement, finishing in 19:13. In the Open race, Josef Molnar finished in 19:47.
In the race for middle school runners, Michael Greeley finished first overall, a rare and exciting feat for the 8th grade runner. Greeley took second overall in the Tiffin meet last year.
"I was very pleased with the tight pack the boys raced in today. Our goal is to have 30 seconds or less between the number one and number five runners. We were very close to doing that today, and the guys raced tough in very hot conditions." -- Coach Scott Earl
The Mules travel to Ann Arbor Pioneer for the first SEC Jamboree of the season, and then on Friday they will compete at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing.
