Dec. 7 – Home vs. Findlay Bedford played like their first Northwest Conference Red Division game was within their grasp, but a second period meltdown sealed the Mules’ fate in a 7-3 loss to Findlay. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the first period, and Bedford outscored Findlay 2-1 in the third period. However, hockey games have three periods, and the Trojans’ scored five unanswered second period goals.
Michael Pisanti scored the opening goal of the game on a power play, assisted by Kyle Kuhr and Noah Szenderski. Down by 7-1, Bedford scored the last two goals, first by Jim Schulty, assisted by Josh Hoogendoorn and Grant Harper, then by Josef Molnar, assisted by Devin Keener and Szenderski.
Penalties were costly to the Mules, as Findlay scored on three of four power play opportunities. Austin Grycza and Adam Glick shared goalkeeping duties
Sat. Dec. 8 – vs. Northview Defending OHSAA champion Northview dismantled the Mules in the second HNC game of the weekend. The game ended after two periods when the Wildcats had a 10-0 lead and the mercy rule was applied. Northview scored five times in each period, including three power play goals. The Mules were outshot 34-13 over the 30 minutes.
