Jared Kujawa is a natural born leader. The Bedford graduate was named the 2011 Monroe County Region Player of the Year for baseball, and now he is leading Western Michigan University behind the plate as a starting catcher. Leadership must be in his blood. “So far, it’s been a great experience,” said Kujawa, of his first year as a Bronco. “I love it. No matter what, baseball is always fun.” Although his senior season ended early at Bedford due to a knee injury, Kujawa managed to hit .519 and lead the team to a 36-7 record. He was a unanimous choice as Region Player of the Year in voting by The Evening News sports staff.
