Girls soccer teams take both games from Allen Park

The Bedford varsity girls soccer team improved to 11-8-2 on the year with a 3-1 triumph Wednesday evening at Allen Park.
Bedford led 1-0 at halftime as senior Jillian Weiss scored the game's first goal off a corner kick from classmate Kelsey Menzel seven minutes into the contest. It was Weiss' third goal of the season while Menzel moved into a tie for the team lead with five assists.
The Jaguars tied the contest in the 50th minute as Annie Quiroga scored on a direct kick.
Just over seven minutes later senior Taylor Pirrone netted her team-leading ninth goal as she knocked in a rebound of a Sydney Bourque shot. It was Bourque's fifth helper of the campaign.
Sophomore Mia Stroud tallied her third goal of the year with just over 8:30 remaining following a nice cross by Menzel.
Senior Cheyanne McCartney recorded her seventh win of the year by making six saves. Monica Fraser had eight stops for Allen Park.
Bedford concludes the regular-season on Thursday with a home match against New Boston Huron.
The Kicking Mules Junior Varsity soccer squad blanked Allen Park 7-0 Wednesday night to improve to 11-6-2 on the season.
Bedford held a 24-1 advantage in shots attempted and had seven different goal scorers.
Sam Dulbs, Morgan Futey and Taya Bailey all scored in the first 6:30 of the match, while Marissa Stark and Jordyn Spotts added insurance goals before halftime. Natalie Ostas and Chelsea Bauders scored second half goals. Cara Stang, Cassidy Floriana, Bauders and Erin Jacobs all earned assists in the win.
Marley Brereton and Kelsey Stark combined for the shutout.
The JV will play its final game of the season on Thursday at home vs. New Boston Huron at 5:00 p.m.
