Jan. 14 – home vs. Chelsea Bedford was outshot by a wide 56-23 margin in their home game vs. Chelsea, but the Bulldogs were only able to eke out a 5-4 decision. The Mules held the lead twice during the game. Two third period Chelsea goals made the difference. More importantly, two earlier Bulldog goals were scored during Bedford power plays. Adam Glick rewrote the Bedford varsity hockey record book by stopping 51 pucks.
Josh Hoogendoorn gave the Mules an early lead, followed by a pair of Chelsea goals. Grant McCormack made it a 2-2 game before the first period ended. A short handed goal put the Bulldogs ahead five minutes into the second period, then Hoogendoorn tied it with a power play goal during the same penalty. McCormack added a power play goal with 1:33 remaining, and Bedford took a 3-2 lead into the intermission.
Chelsea, with their 21 player roster vs. Bedford’s 14, wore the Mules down in the third period with a 20-2 shot advantage. The tying goal came in the first minute, and the game winner was scored with five minutes remaining. Bedford tried frantically to force overtime, but the Chelsea defense took charge, blocking shot after shot before it could reach the Bulldog net.
