State Soccer Championships Set for This Week

KHSAA STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR THIS WEEK
The 2011 KHSAA State Soccer Championships will take place this week at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington. The action gets underway on Wednesday night with a boys’ semifinal doubleheader as Henderson County faces Ryle at 6 p.m. St. Xavier and Henry Clay follow at 8 p.m.

The girls’ semifinals are set for Thursday, Nov. 3 with Sacred Heart facing Bowling Green at 6 p.m. Notre Dame will face off against West Jessamine in the second semifinal at 8 p.m.

The State Championships will be Saturday, Nov. 5 with the boys’ final at 5 p.m. and the girls’ final at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 each per night at the gate and will be available beginning an hour before game time each evening. Children ages 10 and under will be admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased on the KHSAA website at www.khsaa.org/soccer.

The semifinals and finals of the KHSAA State Soccer Championships will be streamed live on www.khsaa.tv. Ryan Lemond will call the action.

CROSS COUNTRY REGIONALS THIS WEEKEND
More than 5,000 cross country runners will compete in 21 regional meets around the state on Saturday for a spot in the three class championships at stake in next week’s KHSAA State Cross Country Meet.

The state cross country meet will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. General admission tickets are $10 each at the gate. Children ages 10 and under will be admitted free. Advance tickets may be purchased on the KHSAA website at www.khsaa.org/crosscountry.

Regional results as well as state entries will be available on the KHSAA website this weekend at www.khsaa.org/crosscountry.

FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS BEGIN THIS WEEK
The race to fill 12 berths in the 2011 Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl will begin in earnest this week with 96 playoff games spread across six classes. The action begins on Thursday night at Pikeville will play host to Campbellsville, followed by a full slate of 94 contests on Friday night. Action on the opening weekend wraps up on Saturday afternoon when Rowan County visits Covington Catholic.

Fans can follow score updates as they are received through the Twitter account at @KHSAAevents and through the Riherds/KHSAA Scoreboard. Live updates are available by searching the hash tag #khsfb. Fans can take the scoreboard on the road through their iPhone and iPad thanks to the Riherds/KHSAA Scoreboard app available through the App Store.

Fans, broadcasters and media outlets are encouraged to Tweet live score updates from games this weekend. To make it easily accessible to all fans simply add the hash tag #khsfb to your tweet.
