Home » Basketball NewsIU Hoosiers knock off the Cats 73-72 in buzzer beaterDecember 10, 2011 By Matt McCarthy of KentuckySports.co
In a game where talent should have won, talent did not prevail. I hate to lead with a statement like that but in this moment, I must state the obvious. The truth is, sometimes passion and enthusiasm take over when you face a #1 ranked team such as Kentucky. Kentucky seemed to lack both for most of the game and that eventually led to the victory for the Hoosiers. From the very beginning IU fans showed their passion by creating one of the most electrifying atmospheres in recent history. You could literally feel the energy in the arena and it transferred to the court as the IU players showed why they deserved to win the game. Truth be told, Indiana deserved to win that game. Even if Kentucky would have been able to pull away with the victory, I still would have felt in my heart of hearts that Indiana would have deserved the win. Kentucky played very rattled in the first half with the exception of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Kidd-Gilchrist played like he was there to win, Unfortunately, that passion and determination didn't seem to transpire to the rest of the team. Terrence Jones played timid and lackadaisical throughout the game which in my mind was the main reason that Kentucky walked away hanging their heads tonight. Honestly, I'm in shock and I'm too rattled to give you an efficient play by play analysis. It's too hard to live through again in my head. However, ESPN has provided you with the box score below:
