UK recruits speak about visit

The Kentucky-North Carolina match up brought a packed house to Rupp Arena, among some of the guests included former Cats like John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Big Blue Nation favorite Ashley Judd and even a Tracy McGrady sighting. But it wasn't just the older folks in the house but some of the top high school recruits were in attendance as well.

Andrew Wiggins and Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who are teammates from Huntington Prep in West Virginia took time out of their busy schedule to catch the game and from the quotes, they both seemed to enjoy the time in Lex.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes Quotes:

"It was great! I had a great time. "I loved everything. The fans, the coaching, everything was awesome."

"Before the game, we got to go inside the locker room and see the pre-game stuff and how Kentucky prepares for the game. It's crazy how in-depth the coaches get with everything"

"They went through each player, and they even talked about their go-to moves. That really stuck out to me."

"I really like how Coach [John] Calipari allows his team to play. He let's them be free and all, but everything is within a system. Every player buys in to what Coach Cal preaches, and it works. That is the main reason why they are undefeated."

"When the game was over, [Andrew] Wiggins and I hung out with the players a little bit and met Coach Cal. He said he really appreciated us coming to watch them play, and he asked us what we thought about everything."

"We saw Tracy McGrady at the game too, so that was pretty cool. Especially with all the NBA talent there."

Also in attendance to see UK beat UNC for the second straight game was 2013 forward Derek Willis out of Bullitt East High School here in the Louisville metro area, and again he seemed as impressed as Rathan Mayes did.

"It was a really fun game and visit. Everything was exciting, and the atmosphere was great. I definitely enjoyed myself"

"I was confused when everyone stopped when Davis blocked Henson's shot. North Carolina had plenty of time to foul, but the block was big, that's for sure."

"I was watching Coach Calipari to see how he reacted to things during the game, and how he was towards his players. I like how he allows his team to be free, but I also like how he gets on his players and demands the best."

Willis On the UK-UL game: "I want to try to make it back for the game, but I know nothing is sure yet. I should though."
