Strong Mid-Week Cards News
September 19, 2012KentuckySports.co
Do you envision Charlie getting after the team this week in practice? Possibly looking like he does in the picture above? Yeah, me too.
This piece by Bruce Feldman, a “Senior College Football Columnist” with cbssports.com ranks the top ten teams who have the best chance to run the table (go undefeated) this season. Who does he rank #1?
Here is a great review of the U of L/UNC game by our “Weekend Sports Buzz” co-host Mark Blankenbaker “The Sheriff”. Mark does a great job breaking down every part of the game as usual.
WARNING! The following contains a link to an extremely long article written by wdrb.com’s Eric Crawford. Unless you have a healthy attention span and/or a desire to hear some intelligent opinions on bringing the NBA to Louisville, I wouldn’t recommend you follow the link below.
Here Eric Crawford of wdrb.com examines the idea of an NBA team in Louisville and the possibility that an NBA team would be the simplest solution for the financial problems that the YUM! Center currently is facing. He specifically discusses how the payments required on the arena are only going to get larger over the next decade.
Crawford also describes a scenario in which the city of Louisville would end up almost using the University of Louisville to upgrade the city financially with the following:
“U of L doesn't want to be the professional equivalent of the person who supports and helps someone all the way through professional school, only to see them "upgrade" once the higher status is attained.”
Another very interesting snippet I took from the article is the following:
“So here's the number. Men and women combined for 683,669 fans in 39 home dates in 2010-11, the last year for which there was a full slate of 41 NBA home games.
Compare U of L's 683,669 with the Indiana Pacers attendance that season -- 555,077 for 41 home dates. In fact, the combined U of L attendance figures outdrew the 41-game regular-season totals for the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, New Jersey Nets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats and Detroit Pistons.”
Kind of interesting to hear it put that way. I love reading Eric Crawford’s articles and so far I completely love the entire wdrb.com site!
Here is a FIU vs Louisville game preview from Matt Rybaltowski from cbssports.com
Here is a FIU vs Louisville preview by Jon Hancock who is a big hot-shot “Correspondent” with the Bleacher Report. When I google searched Louisville vs FIU the first post that appeared was Mr. Hancock’s.
