For the second year in a row I will be counting down the Top Ten Louisville Cardinals players accordingto EA Sports NCAA 2013 while my Weekend Sports Buzz Co-Host Tyler Bloyd will be doing the Kentucky players. We will have our top ten list finished by the time the Cards and Cats face off at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium on September 2nd.

The #4 ranked player for the Louisville Cardinals in 2012 is a 5-11 184 lb Cornerback Adrian Bushell. Adrian is a Red-Shirt Senior and wears jersey #21. Adrian attended DeSoto High School in DeSoto, TX where he played for head coach Dave Meadows. During his senior season Adrian played defensive back, running back & wide receiver and rushed for over 500 yards & 10 TDs, had just under 300 yards receiving & 7 TDs as a receiver along with his 60+ tackles and two interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

Adrian was rated as the #15 athlete in the country by rivals.com before he signed with and played 14 games for the Florida Gators. After a few off the field issues that weren’t always made public (as to exactly what had occurred), Adrian decided to transfer after the 2009 season. Adrian played the 2010 season at Cedar Valley Community College before joining the Cardinals after the training camp just over a year ago.

Current Cards defensive Coordinator Vance Bedford knew Adrian from his time as the defensive secondary coach with the Florida Gators. That along with the fact that Charlie Strong was the defensive coordinator on that same defensive unit were the primary relationships that lead to the Cards landing Bushell.

During the 2011 season Adrian played in only 9 games but managed to register 50 tackles, an interception, and three passes broken up. Bushell also had many spectacular special teams’ plays as he returned the opening kickoff against Connecticut for a 100 yard touchdown and blocked a field goal against West Virginia that DB Andrew Johnson returned for a touchdown (which can be seen here).

Adrian was awarded for his stellar highlight reel first season with the Cardinal with First Team All Big East Honors. He was also named to the pre-season 2012 Paul Hornung Award Watch list on 8/2/2012. That list can be seen here.
