Cincinnati Reds top prospect, Billy Hamilton (Pensacola, FL) stole his third base of thenight in the fourth inning totally 146 stolen bases on the season, a new minor league record steal. Hamilton recorded 104 of his steals for Class A Bakersfield before moving up to Double A, and has been caught stealing a total of 33 times this season. It’s likely that Hamilton will start next season with Bakersfield before quickly moving up to Triple A in Louisville, KY.
Billy Hamilton possesses more steals this season than Rickey Henderson did during his record setting season in 1982 with 130; a record that still stands in the majors.
