Home » Football NewsTop Ten Kentucky Players According To NCAA Football 2013: #6 Larry WarfordAugust 20, 2012 By Tyler Bloyd of KentuckySports.co
Warford was a 3-Star prospect coming out of Richmond, KY where he was the first commitment to the Wildcats for the 2009 recruiting class. Named to the Kentucky All-State team his senior season, moved to Kentucky from California going in to his junior year. Heading into college and his freshman season for the Cats, Warford saw the playing field plenty as a back up right guard, named to the SEC All-Freshman team that the league coaches vote on, playing in 10 games. Last season, his sophomore year brought on a much larger roll for the 6'3 330lb beast, starting every single game, helping his offensive line in earning a 2nd ranked SEC sacks allowed, while also leading the team in knockdown blocks with 43. Multiple outlets had named Warford to their 2nd Team All-SEC honors, hard to do in such a great conference only as a 2nd year guy. Last season, Warford once again was named to the 2nd Team All-SEC while starting every game for the Wildcats in back to back seasons. He led the team in knockdowns with 34 on his way to making the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award for the Nation's top lineman. You may be wondering, he IS the cousin of former UK corner Paul Warford and I expect nothing but more rush blocks and awards coming Warford's way during the 2012 campaign!
