inSharAndy Katz of ESPN released some news that a two-tournament event will be held throughout a four day period sometime in November of 2017 honoring Nike Founder Phil Knight and his 80th birthday. Knight's birthday will follow on February 24th, 2018 which is during conference play so hosting in advance is a must. Michigan State AD Mark Hollis was the mastermind behind the plan and locked up commitments from 16 schools who will participate and oh what a list is is:

Kentucky, Florida, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Duke, Connecticut, Georgetown, Texas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Oregon, Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga and finally Portland.

This is going to be one of the greatest gatherings of sprots programs ever to honor Knight and I can't wait to see who UK will be faced up against. Here are a few quotes from the article.

"All of these great basketball programs have been supported by Phil Knight and Nike," Hollis said. "His support of the programs have created scholarships and resources for these departments to excel."

"You can only have one school per conference, and with the current climate you never know," Hollis said. "We have the commitments to move forward from the 16 schools. What we're doing is creating the greatest in-season basketball event of all-time."
