Bruce's Bomb Brings Victory

The Reds stranded 14 runners tonight and were 1-10 tonight with runners in scoring position. But that lone hit the Reds had with runners in scoring position was a Jay Bruce walk of home run (wait..did I say walk off? I mean KYSCO home run) to give the Reds a 3-0 victory over the Mets of New York.

There was not a lot of offense to be had Tuesday. Although the Reds did pick up 11 hits tonight off Mets' pitching, including four doubles, the Reds failed to push across a run until the very last inning.

It was a pretty good night for Mat Latos. Seven innings of five hit, no run, two walks and four strikeout baseball. He battled time and time again out of tough situations, something that I think Edinson Volquez could not do. It's why we got him, folks. He's a young, talented pitcher who has very good control of his pitches and can work out of tough jams.

It was yet another solid night for the bullpen, as they held the Mets in check for their two innings of work. The duo of Marshsall and Arredondo (pronounced Air-re-DON-do not Air-re-DOAN-do..seriously don't listen to Chris Welsch) combined for two innings, no run, two walk and two strike out baseball. I've said this time and time again, this is what you want out of your pitching staff--a chance for you team to win the game.

That's all for me, folks. With the Pirates losing Tuesday night, the Reds now sit atop first place with a comfy lead of six games. But it's not good enough..yet. I say that because anything is possible. Trust me, I'm a Braves fan too and no, I haven't forgotten last year. You can follow me on twitter @stieneKYSCO . I tweet lots of cool stuff. And I'll answer any question you would like for me to answer.

Oh, and by the way. Have you ever wandered what your favorite Reds' walk-up/ bullpen entrance song is? Well, you're in luck. Jamie Ramsey, assistant director of media relations for the Reds, has compiled his yearly song list of all the Reds that have been on the team this year. You'll find it all here .
