UK Picks Up Talented Tennessee Pitcher
August 8, 2012By Jon Hancock of KentuckySports.co
Kentucky picked up a commitment from Trevor Clifton, a 2013 right handed pitcher from Heritage High School in Maryville, Tennessee. He is ranked the 3rd best right handed pitcher in the 2013 class by ESPN.com. The 6'4 pitcher throws a 94 MPH fast ball, he had an ERA of 2.50 last year striking out an average of two batters in inning. He also pitched his first career no hitter last year. Tennessee, Vanderbilt and the Air Force Academy were among those that made scholarship offers to Clifton.
He told Knoxville News Sentinel, "Tennessee was an option, but the first time I visited (Kentucky) I just stuck with them," said Clifton, who just recently turned 17. Kentucky was really close — it's just three hours away — and I wanted my family to be able to come watch me play."
