james_young      According to Adam Zagoria, James Young is planning on announcing his college decision very soon as he has placed Kentucky, Michigan State, Arizona and Kansas in his Top 4. Young is a 6'6 210 lbs. wing from Troy High School in Michigan. He is ranked the 5th best play in the 2013 class by ESPN.com and the 2nd best small forward in his class by Scout.com. He has had a really good summer playing for The Family AAU squad, even recieved MVP honors at Nike’s Global Challenge.

Excerpt from ZagsBlog.com:

Kentucky coach John Calipari watched Young throughout the Nike Global Challenge — where he led Team USA Midwest to the title over Andrew Wiggins and Team Canada — and the Peach Jam.

“That school [Kentucky] right now is across the board the school that you want to attend if you want to get out [of college] early,” Williamson said.

“Coach Cal has done a great job taking kids to the next level. Of course that will be somebody you will consider heavy.”

Scout.com Player Evaluation:
James Young has developed into one of the top all around scorers in the 2013 class. Young, who stands every bit of 6-foot-5, has good size and is an impressive athlete. His jump shot off the catch is consistent and the southpaw finds ways to get to the basket. There are still areas for improvement like his ball handling and strength, but Young has the potential to be a McDonald's All-American.
