July 31, 2012KentuckySports.co
Brett Tomko (0-6, 3.41 ERA) pitched 6.0 innings and despite allowing 5 ER he left in a position to record his first win of the season before Nick Christiani (RH, RP) allowed a solo HR to Toledo's Jerad Head in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the game at 6-6.
Cody Puckett (25 yrs, 5-9 187 RH OF) hit a solo HR in the top of the 9th to give the Reds a 7-6 lead and Cale Iorg scored on a Jerad Head ground out in the bottom of the ninth to tie things up and put the game into extra innings.
The Mud Hens ended up winning off an Argenis Diaz double that scored two runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to end the Bats three game road streak.
Louisville Bats Notes:
-Danny Dorn played his 15th game with the Mud Hens since being traded away from the Bats earlier this season. Dorn was selected in the 32nd round of the first year player draft by the Reds in 2006. He collected 3 hits and scored a run Monday night's victory over the Bats.
-Corky Miller reached base 4 times in 5 plate appearances Monday night after collecting two singles and two BBs. After Reds starting catcher Devin Mesoraco is suspended (he is expected to be) after making minimal physical contact with an umpire the Reds will need to call up either Corky Miller or Dioner Navarro to share the back-stop duties with Ryan Hanigan until Mesoraco returns from his suspension.
-With Monday's loss the Bats move to 43-68 (.387) on the season and have won 6 of their last ten games. The next Bats game will be Tuesday at 12:00PM at Toledo with RHP Todd Redmond (7-7, 3.58 ERA) vs. RHP Drew Smyly (0-1, 12.27 ERA)
-The Bats will play at the beautiful Louisville Slugger field 16 more times this season with the next home game coming this Thursday August 2nd at 7:05PM against the Charlotte Knights (Triple A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox). The last home series of the season will be between the Bats and the Indianapolis Indians (Triple A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) for a two game series on Sunday 9/2 (7:05PM) and Monday 9/3 (1:05PM)
-The Reds are going to finish the season under the .500 mark for the first time since 2005.
-Corky Miller has played more games as a Louisville Bat than anyone else… EVER!
