July 24, 2012By Jon Hancock of KentuckySports.co
According to Evan Daniels of Scout.com, Rick Pitino has offer JuCo basketball star Chris Jones. Jones was a 2011 Tennessee commit, but when Bruce Pearl was fired for recruiting violations Jones went to Northwest Florida State. He has become a very coveted JuCo transfer with interest from Memphis, West Virginia, Louisville, South Carolina and several other colleges. Several sources have reported Pitino is really going after Jones hard.
With Terry Rozier announcing today he is going to prep school, Pitino continues to look for someone to replace senior Peyton Siva. Jones is 5'10 195 lbs and is talented enough to play well in Division-1 basketball. He averaged 18 points a game last year for NFS and won the Florida Panhandle Conference Player of the Year honors. Jones' coach at NFS Steve Forbes said about the former Oak Ridge Military Academy star in an interview with Slam Online, " “His greatest strength, being highly competitive, has in the past been his biggest weakness. He has learned to manage the highs and lows that take place throughout a season, a game and a practice. He’s learned to become more consistent with his effort on and off the floor.”
