Louisville Recruit To Watch: Noah Vonleh

June 19, 2012
By Jon Hancock of KentuckySports.co

There are a lot of new prospects that Rick Pitino and the assistant coaches have recently started recruiting. One of newest recruits is 2014 power forward Noah Vonleh. Vonleh is 6'8 215 lbs., he is ranked the 2 best player in the 2014 class by Rivals.com and rated the best power forward in his class by Scout.com. He has offers from North Carolina, Ohio State, Florida, UConn, UCLA and several others. He is also getting a recent push from Kentucky.

Vonleh told Mike Hughes of Insidetheville.com that he is "definitely interested" in the Cardinals. The New Hampton Prep star was impressive at last weekends NBA Top 100 Camp. NY2LASports.com picked Vonleh as one of their top performers. They wrote of his performance, "One of the highly regarded juniors to be nationally, Vonleh was impressive at times with his activity and ability to score the basketball.  Showed solid athleticism in transition and around the basket, was active on the glass throughout the camp, and showed an ability to score inside and outside as he dropped some jumpers from long range.  He has solid instincts, nice length, and an ability to create matchup problems for opposing teams as he can finish around the basket with strength and power and then face up from the perimeter and drain the jumper if needed as well.  Scored a little over 12 PPG while collecting almost 7 rebounds per contest.  An excellent floor performance last week. "

Excerpt of Future150.com's Scouting Report:

  • Strengths:

The long and athletic Noah Vonleh is a freak athlete who impacts the game in a variety of ways. On the offensive end of the floor, he uses his extremely long wingspan to snatch rebounds out of the air and get easy follow-up baskets. He has very good ball-handling skills for someone his size, and his shooting is improving. He is an extremely good shot-blocker for a small forward.

  • Weaknesses:

He still needs to improve his shot, as well as his shot-selection. He also needs to become more aggressive on both ends of the floor.
