Home » Women's Basketball NewsUK Hoops takes on UConn tonight, winner advancing to the Final FourMarch 27, 2012 By Tyler Bloyd of KentuckySports.co
The Women are coming off a pretty easy win against 11 seeded Gonzaga 79-62 Sunday evening but now have a much bigger task at hand with #1 seeded Huskies. They enter today's game after knocking off Penn St. 77-59 which could set up a very good game tonight. This is a very talented UK team with great defense and can shoot lights out behind the arc and knowing Uconn is not who they usually are, even as a one seed, they should come out with no pressure and give ESPN a story line. Three teams from Kentucky make a Final Four! The Huskies 4 losses this year all came to top 25 teams, three of those to the #1 and #3(twice) ranked teams. They are led by Mosqueda-Lewis’ 14.9ppg, Hayes follows up with 14.6ppg while shooting 50.6 percent. Bria Hartley adds 13.9pts and Stephanie Dolson averages 10.1 points and is the team leader in rebounding with 5.9 per outing. They are also the top scoring defense in the nation so this will definitely be a battle knowing Matthew Mitchell will not back down and pressure them just like any other team. The game can be seen tonight on ESPN at 7:00pm EST and if UK wins it would be the Women's first trip to a Final Four in school history! Go Cats!
