Louisville Related Sweet 16 Stuff

I think we all know the importance of this Thursday night’s game between MSU and Louisville in Phoenix. In case you missed our show on Tuesday here is some good insight into the game from Simone Scott who has covered MSU this season.

In this article ESPN ranks Louisville 11th out of the remaining 16 teams. Seems a little low to me.

In this article Louisville is ranked as the 9th best team remaining. Not sure how I feel about the #9 ranking. I am sure I don’t like this Michael Rosenberg’s comments even though I’m guessing many of you will agree with them.

Here is a list of the sweet 16 programs that have the most pressure on them according to Andy Katz.

So are you all list-ed out? Is that even a word?

Tom Izzo doesn’t think the Cards will be able to take the Spartans out of their game like Rick Majerus and St. Louis did.

Here is the interview and he makes the big bold statement shortly after the 5:40 mark.

It’s really not that big of a deal what he said but I sure hope he is wrong. I am pretty certain Draymond Green will be the main focus of Pitino’s defensive efforts. If we can get Draymond to make some mistakes then I do think we can change the MSU gameplan.

Here is a good read from espn.com about both Pitino and Izzo.

Here is some Michigan State fans on a message board discussing the Louisville team practice they witnessed in Phoenix on Wednesday.  Lets hope our shooting is better on Thursday night than it sounds like it was during practice on Wednesday.

Louisville Football Stuff

According to this article Michael Bush is no longer a candidate to become a Cincinnati Bengal as the Bengals signed former NE Patriot RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis yesterday.

Being a Bengals fan I am disappointed. Being a Michael Bush fan I’m okay with this and hope he ends up on a good team. Maybe the Bears.

Here is a description of Louisville football’s class of 2013 ranking according to maxpreps.com.

Nothing too major, but a little shakeup on the Cards football coaching staff. A staff that has been relatively stable over the past couple of seasons.

Random other news of mild importance

Uconn center Alex Oriakhi’s father Alex SR. announced his son will be transferring from UConn and because of the situation involving Uconn being banned from the NCAA tournament next year he won’t have to sit out a season. Oriakhi Sr. said "Alex will transfer because of the NCAA tournament next year.”

Connecticut is currently banned from the tournament next season because of a subpar academic progress rating.

Here is the story.

Terrence Williams has signed a ten day contract with the Sacramento Kings. He will join former team mate Fransisco Garcia and Demarcus

Cousins who failed to complete even his first year at the University of Kentucky.
