Luke Hancock is from Roanoke, VA., the son of Venicia and William Hancock. Luke started his high school basketball career at Hidden Valley High School where he averaged 13.9 points a game and 7.1 rebounds. He then went to Hargrave Military Academy where he played for Kevin Keatts, who is now an assistant at Louisville. He player two years at George Mason University before transferring to UofL. Hancock averaged 10.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists and was named third-team All-Colonial Athletic Association his sophomore year. He also had a free throw percentage of 81% as a sophomore. Luke was most known for making the game winning three against Villanova in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Luke transferred to Louisville in May of last year, he was also being recruited by Michigan, Virginia, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Marquette and Xavier. He said the reason he picked Louisville was, ",The chance to play for a guy like Rick Pititno in the Big East and in front of 22,000 people every night definitely sparked my interest. Rick Pitino said of Luke Hancock this year, "Luke Hancock has been great this year. He's our best basketball player. He's mentally the best player on the team and physically the best player on the team. He's a true basketball player in every sense of the word."
