The Kentucky and Louisville Women's Basketball team iare both very talented teams and they are ready for the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky's team had an amazing year at 25-6 and are seeded as a number 2 seed, only the second time in history UK women's team has been placed as a 2 seed. They will play McNeese State on ESPN2 on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa at 4:20. The Lady Cardinals received a number 7 seed and will play Michigan State in Raleigh, NC. on Saturday at 1:45. Louisville ended the regular season 22-9, 10-6 in the Big East.

Louisville Coach Jeff Walz said of the tournament, “We did well with the seven seed last year. Now we’re just trying to continue to make good things happen as we move forward in the NCAA Tournament. We’re playing well and really excited.”

Louisville Senior Becky Burke said of the first round game, “College Park is not as far as we thought we might go towards the end. A lot of the closer locations were slipping away there in the end. But at this point, it’s not really about seed or anything like that. It’s all about matchups, and I feel confident our coaching staff will have us ready.”

Kentucky's Coach Matthew Mitchell said of his team, "It’s the first time in our school’s history that the women’s program has been to three straight tournaments. It’s the first time we’ve ever gotten a seed this high (since 1982). It’s a great night for us and we couldn’t be more excited about advancing to the tournament and getting a two seed and having a chance to compete for a national championship. It’s a real, real exciting night for our program.”

Junior guard A’dia Mathies said of the tournament, “I think it’s going to be tough. I don’t think anybody (has it easy). Whether it be Baylor or McNeese State, whoever we’re playing, it’s going to be tough every game.”
