Kendrick Boys lost both regular season games to Manchester, the first a heart-breaker at home after being up double digits late in the forth, and by 20 in the game at Manchester. But niether of those games mattered on Tuesday night. The Cherokees' Big 3 (Hall, Williams, and Miles) established themselves from the beginning and seemed to have a refused to lose mindset.
Manchester’s final shot counted, but it still wasn’t enough.
Demarcus Addie knocked down a three-pointer from half court, but it came as the buzzer sounded and the Blue Devils trailing by five. It made the game closer, but Kendrick still came out on top.
The win gave the Cherokees the Region 5-AA tournament championship and the top seed out of the region in the Class AA playoffs. KHS will host Coosa in the first round.
Jordan Hall scored 30 to lead Kendrick, followed by Jontavis Miles with 21 and Kyle Scott Williams with 14.
Jordan Hall picked the MVP for the tournament for his efforts and said, "it was a total team effort. We lost to these guys but were sure we could beat them, it helped that the game was played in our house".
