Kendrick's Football Team Wins Opener

Jaquariez Scott scored on an 8-yard run to give Kendrick a 14-8 win over Americus-Sumter on Friday night at Alton Shell Stadium in the season-opener for both teams.
The game-winning run was set by by a fourth-and-19 pass from Jonathan Hines to Antonio Jones that set up the Cherokees at the Americus-Sumter 8-yard line.Kendrick's first touchdown came in the first quarter as Reno Lee ran in from 5 yards out.
The Cherokees opened last season at Americus-Sumter and lost 25-6. The game was close throughout the contest until the 4th quarter when the Americus went on to score a couple of unanswered touchdowns. Coach Dukes explained, that the win was a sign of the team's maturity. "We've grown since last season and to win in the fashion that we did tonight, shows it"
The Cherokees travel to play at Marion County on Friday, kick-off 7:30pm.
