January 22, 2014By Randall Durant of Keller High School Basketball
The Keller Indians swept all three games from Fossil Ridge Tuesday night at Keller High. But first let's back to Saturday as the B team won both of it's games. Second game against Haltom was a bit closer. tied at 20-20 at the half, Keller used an 18-10 third quarter to gain control before winning 49-39. Omar Tanimu had 10 of his 14 points in the 2nd half to lead the way. Josh Cortinas had 9, Connor Leffel 6, Walker Wilson 5, A.J. The freshmen A team defeated Fossil Ridge on Friday 49-42. Close game all the way, as Ridge led by 2 going into the 4th, but Keller managed to come back for the win. Jackson hataway had 12, Brian Shin 8, Brooks Dodson 7, Clay Brewer 6, Cade Cruzen 4, Kameron Kimble 4, Matt Soihl 2, and Spencer Misko 2 points. The A team is now 13-7 on the year and 4-4 in district play.
The Keller JV beat Fossil Ridge 60-43. They won all four quarters. Shane Stienkraus had 11, Matt Murphy 10, Anthony Savera 9, Blake Campbell 9, Keaton Hildebrand 6, Austin Reynolds 7, Connor Hughes 4, Austin McGee 2, and Grant Giunta 2 points. Jv is now 16-6 on the year, and 6-2 in district play.
And Finally, the Varsity took the lead at the end of the first quarter as Brock Anders fed Nolan Taylor for the layup and a 13-12 lead. The Indians never gave it back although it got interesting late. Keller used a run in the third quarter to build an 11 point lead. Unusual, because it happened with Nolan Taylor on the bench. Enter Ryan Feifer. On Monday, Feifer was at the doctor getting his broken nose set, and on Tuesday night he was killing the Panthers as he scored 7 points in a 2 minute stretch that gave Keller the cushion they needed to hold off a furious late rally by Ridge. Reenter Taylor... Nolan had 9 of his game high 22 points in the fourth as Keller never gave up the lead. Ridge got it to within 1 point as they hit 6 three's in the 4th quarter. Kyle Tanner hit 3 clutch free throws down the stretch and the Indians held on to beat their cross town rival for the 10th straight time.
Taylor had 22, Tanner 13, Fiefer 11, Erik Frederikson 4, and Brock Anders 4. Keller improves to 17-4 on the year and 7-1 in district play. They are alone in first place with Fossil Ridge and Northwest 1 game back. Keller Travels to Haltom to take on the Buffaloes on Friday.
