Indians top Vikings, head west for 2nd round

February 20, 2013
By Randall Durant of Keller High School Basketball

The Keller Indians won their first playoff game in over a decade Tuesday night as they defeated Arlington Lamar 49-43. It was the first playoff win since 1998, and first 5A win by any Keller school in Boys basketball. The Indians, 4-5A champs, were a little nervous to start and never really found a comfortable rythmn. Lamar led 12-7 after the first quarter, but Kelelr answered with a 17-9 2nd for a three point halftime lead. Keller opened up a 10 point lead midway through the third, but Lamar made a few clutch plays and sstayed within 35-31 after three quarters.

Everyone's favorite freshmen, Nolan Taylor led Keller with 15 points, Austyn Kennedy 11, Mike Opolski 11, Blake Stewart 6, Alec Ingraham 5, and Brock Anders 1. Keller improves to 23-10 on the year, and will travel to Odessa for their area round match against El Paso Bel Air. Gametime is 7:30 Friday at Odessa College. It's a long trip but if you leave by noon, you can easily get a bite to eat before opening tip!!
