Indians dropped by Jags

November 21, 2012
By Randall Durant of Keller High School Basketball

The Keller Indians went on the road Tuesday night and lost a close one to the Summit Jaguars. Keller led 12-8 after the first quarter, led by Austyn Kennedy's 6 points. The second quarter Keller had lapses in concentration and couldn't finish layups as Summit led 26-19 at the half. The Indians pulled within one in the third only to see Summit score 6 points in 30 seconds and push it back to 38-32 after three quarters. Once again in the fourth Keller cut it to one, and even missed the go ahead layup with under two minutes to go. In the End Keller's 18 turnovers and poor free throw shooting combined with allowing Summit 16 offensive rebounds was too much to overcome as the Indians fell 52-49.

Austyn Kennedy led Keller with 14 points and 5 rebounds, Freshmen Nolan Taylor made his first start and scored 8 points, had 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Kyle Tanner had 8 points, Mike Opolski contributed 8 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, Brock Anders had 4 points. Keller is now 1-2 on the year, and will play in the Martin Thanksgiving Classic in Friday 2 pm against Waxahachie.
