October 12, 2011
Kearney High School Cross Country

With seven girls in the top 15 and five in the top seven, the Kearney girls cross country team nabbed the Kansas City Suburban Blue Conference title Wednesday at Jesse James Festival Grounds.

The Bulldogs scored 24 points with Liberty North taking second with 48.

Six Bulldogs earned All-Conference honors:

Olivia Franklin finished second with a time of 19:09. That was just four seconds off the time she ran Saturday at the Kearney Invitational.

Jasmine Edwards took fourth, Jessica Breyfogle fifth, Jessi Allen sixth, and Maiya Wolpert seventh to nab first team all-conference.

Holli Adams finished 14th to earn Honorable Mention. Michaela Altvater took 15th.

The boys put two runners on the All-Conference first team and one on Honorable Mention; still they finished second to Staley. Staley scored 51 points to Kearney's 59.

Connor Stark finished fourth for the Bulldogs. Right with him was Adam Lappe in fifth. The top seven earn first team status

Max Bowers crossed the line in 11th for Honorable Mention. Rounding out the scoring was Aaron Stephens, 17th, and Louis Hill, 22nd. Austin Hayward was 23rd, and Sam Oxandale 24th.

In the boys junior varsity race, the Bulldogs scored just 17 points to win. Victor Brown won the race.

In the girls junior varsity race, the ladies scored an adjusted perfect score of 15. Laini Brown won that race.
