2012 KCAC Preseason Football Team

Wichita, Kan. - Theron "Junior" Allen (RB, Bethany) and Dexter Davis (DL, Friends) highlight the 2012 Preseason All-KCAC Football Team, chosen by KCAC Head Football Coaches.  Allen and Davis return as 2011 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, unanimous ALL-KCAC selections, and NAIA All-Americans.

Allen, a senior and three-year starter, enters this season looking for his third consecutive year of 1400 rushing yards. The 5-6, Senior enters 2012 averaging 187.3 all-purpose yards per game (127 rushing) during his career as a Swede. Allen ranked second in the NAIA in Rushing (1404) and All Purpose Yards (1880) in 2011.

Davis led the NAIA in sacks with 14 during his 2011 campaign.  He also posted 58 tackles, 24 tackles for loss (third best in NAIA), three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, and two blocked kicks last season.  During his career at Friends, the 6-3 senior has 102 tackles and 28 sacks in 28 games played.

All returning first and second 2011 ALL-KCAC performers were nominated for preseason honors.  Head Football Coaches also had the opportunity to nominate other key members from their teams.  The team (listed below) is made up of 24 senior, seven juniors, and one sophomore. Of the 32 athletes listed, 10 are from Kansas, four from Oklahoma, and four from California.  In addition to Allen and Davis, four members of the team were selected unanimously by coaches: Brett Giesen (RB, KWU), Quinton Flaming (OL, Ottawa), Zach Van Duesen (DL, Ottawa) and Cris Basch (LB, USM)

The coaches and media Preseason KCAC Polls will be released on Wednesday, August 1st, following the annual KCAC Football Media Day to be conducted in Salina, Kansas at the Salina Country Club on August 1.  Live audio and video including press conferences and one-on-one interviews will be featured on the KCAC Digital Network.
