Troy Vorhies had 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Trojans. Justin Ikerd scored 25 points, with Michael Morris and Ryan Curry scoring 24 each to lead the Dragons. This was the first meeting between CG and NP since the 1960s. It was also the first-ever regular season meeting between the two schools. Since 1937, Center Grove leads the series vs. NP, 3-0. In the state tournament, CG is 2-0 vs. the Dragons. Hawkins is coaching his 716th game tonight and his 196th at Center Grove. New Palestine Head Coach Adam Barton: Adam Barton is in his eighth year as the Dragons’ head coach, with a record of 97-79. He is currently the fourth-winningest coach in school history. Barton is the only coach in New Palestine’s 104-year basketball history to win more than one sectional championship, leading the Dragons to 3A sectional titles in 2009 and 2011, and in 2012, he added a third sectional title to his resume, beating Franklin Central to win a 4A sectional at Center Grove. A graduate of Franklin College, Barton was the varsity assistant at NPHS for several years before moving up to the top job in 2005-06.
