Greenwood Head Coach Bruce Hensley: 24th year at Greenwood, 230-290. First season at Greenwood was 1989-90. The Woodmen have won two sectional titles under Coach Hensley, 1991 & 2002. Hensley is coaching his 521st game tonight at Greenwood and ranks 63rd in wins among active coaches.  

Franklin Head Coach Jerry Bomholt: 1st year at Franklin, 14-6 and 32nd year overall, 446-276. Bomholt ranks 16th in the state among active coaches in wins. He has won 61% of his games and is coaching his 713th game tonight.

Computer Ratings: In Class 4A Greenwood is 92nd and Franklin is 57th

Key Stats: Greenwood is scoring on average 49 ppg and allowing 58 ppg. Franklin is scoring 53 ppg and giving up 45 ppg.

Greenwood vs.Franklin Series: Greenwood vs. Franklin since 1993-94 is 9-21 overall, 5-6 at Greenwood, 4-6 at Franklin, 0-6 neutral, 0-7 sectionals. Franklin won at Greenwood this season on Dec. 7th, 52-30. Franklin was won the last seven meetings against Greenwood in the sectionals with the last meeting in 2009, a 50-49 victory over the Woodmen.

Greenwood Additional Info: The Woodmen have won nine sectional titles (2002, ’91, ’70, ’66, ’65, ’63, ’61, ’41 & ’40). Greenwood has won four sectional titles at Franklin, four at Whiteland and one on its home court.

Franklin Additional Info: The Grizzly Cubs have won three state titles (1922, ’21, & ’21), three semi-states (1974, ’73 & ’39), 12 regionals (last one in 1997 at Columbus North), and 46 sectionals. 36 sectional  championships on their home court, four at Greenwood, four at Whiteland, one at Center Grove (1996) and their last sectional title at Southport (2006). The Grizzly Cubs won the Johnson County Tournament this past season beating Center Grove 46-42.

CG vs. New Palestine Series: CG beat NP 95-89 in OT on Nov. 30 at Center Grove’s West Gym. Troy Vorhies had 29 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Trojans. Justin Ikerd scored 25 points, with Michael Morris and Ryan Curry scoring 24 each to lead the Dragons. This was the first meeting between CG and NP since the 1960s. It was also the first-ever regular season meeting between the two schools. Since 1937, Center Grove leads the series vs. NP, 3-0. In the state tournament, CG is 2-0 vs. the Dragons.

CG Head Coach Cliff Hawkins: Cliff Hawkins ranks 17th in Indiana among active coaches in wins with 442 victories in 32 years of coaching. In Hawkins nine seasons as the Trojans head coach, CG has won 115 games and the following championships: 2011 Franklin Central Sectional, 2010 Hall of Fame Classic, 2009-10 and 2006-07 Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference and the 2012, ’11, ’09, ’08, ’07, ’06 Johnson County Tournaments. Hawkins is coaching his 716th game tonight and his 196th at Center Grove.

New Palestine Head Coach Adam Barton: Adam Barton is in his eighth year as the Dragons’ head coach, with a record of 97-79. He is currently the fourth-winningest coach in school history. Barton is the only coach in New Palestine’s 104-year basketball history to win more than one sectional championship, leading the Dragons to 3A sectional titles in 2009 and 2011, and in 2012, he added a third sectional title to his resume, beating Franklin Central to win a 4A sectional at Center Grove. A graduate of Franklin College, Barton was the varsity assistant at NPHS for several years before moving up to the top job in 2005-06.
