Curtis blanks Riverside 48-0

type="text/javascript"> John Curtis gets district win #2 in impressive fashion, 48-0 against rival Riverside

On the road to John Curtis’ head coach J.T Curtis 500th win the Patriots faced district rival Riverside Academy. John Curtis controlled the whole game on both sides of the ball leading to a 48-0 win.

Coach J.T. Curtis is now at 497 career wins which makes him only three wins away from 500. If J.T. gets the three wins he needs he will be only the second coach to ever reach that milestone.

The Patriots got started early to give them a lead throughout the game.  After the first Patriot drive that was stalled after two first downs, their defense got on the field and showed why they are a top ranked defense in 2A. The defense allowed under 100 yards for the game.

Curtis had a 20-0 first quarter lead courtesy of an 82 yard run by Sherman Badie, a 22 yard run by Raekwon James, and a 34 yard td pass to Tre Perrier from Patrick Morton.

Curtis took a hit in the 2nd quarter when starting quarterback Morton landed wrong on his knee and sprained it. It was later learned the injury is not as bad as it first looked. Curtis then had to rely on freshman quarterback Abby Touzet to take charge of the offense. Touzet would lead two touchdown drives, scoring both TD’s on his own, and the half ended with the Patriots in the lead 34-0.

Curtis kept up the pressure on defense and consistently produced three and outs that put the Patriot offense back on the field. Badie scored Curtis another touchdown on a very physical run for a 50 yard touchdown. Midway through the fourth quarter Tevin Horton took the ball on the outside edge of his blockers and scored on a 55 yard touchdown run.

Badie finished with 156 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Touzet had 55 yards rushing and 35 yards passing in only two quarters of play. The Patriots rushed for 442 yards on the night. The John Curtis linebackers got it done for the defense with junior linebackers Duke Riley and Eric Thomas each accounting for 9 tackles.
