The Patriots (now 6-2, 3-0 in District 11-3A) ran out to a quick 22-0 lead and rolled to the win, their fourth straight. Curtis will try to wrap up the district title next Thursday night at Pan American Stadium in the final game of the regular season against McMain.
Quarterback Myles Washington found Dupre in the corner of the end zone on 9-yard scoring strike for the game’s first score, following an 8-play, 65-yard drive. The second TD toss to Dupre came from the 3-yard line, capping a 55-yard march--also in 8 plays--early in the second quarter.
Washington finished the evening with 98 yards on 13 attempts for 6 completions, five of them to Dupre accounting for 80 yards.
The two Washington-Dupre TD connections were sandwiched around a 29-yard field goal by Austin Linden. Midway through the second quarter, Kaleb Anderson took a punt all the way back 45 yards to pay dirt up the middle on two zigs and one zag.
Moreria scored from the 6-yard line early in the third quarter. His 126 yards came on 11 carries. Raekwon James completed the night of work by the offense with an 8-yard TD run. Just 13 second after the score by James, Josh Schweiger chalked up one for the defense with a 5-yard scoop-and-score for the game’s final TD.
Kenny Young had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery for Curtis. The Patriot defense held the Cavaliers (now 5-4, 1-2) to just 4 first downs and 113 yards of total offense, while the offense produced 338 yards, 240 on the ground and 98 in the air.
