The winning ways continued for the Patriot baseball team Tuesday night in South Lafourche. Tied at two, Brett Salomon stepped to the plate with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Alex Melancon stood on second base after a one out double and awaited Salomon's at bat. It didn't take long for Salomon to knock him in with the game winning run, as he ripped a ball down the right field line for an RBI base hit to push the Patriots ahead 3-2. Dylan Robinson came on in the bottom of the sixth and retired six Tarpon batters in a row in the sixth and seventh innings to preserve the victory.

The Tarpons got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double and a Patriot error. Both plays led to two Tarpon runs and a 2-0 lead. The Patriots quickly tied it up at two in the top of the fourth inning when Dillon Gordon beat out an infield hit allowing Melancon to score to cut the lead to 2-1. A successful double steal scored Robinson from third to tie the score at 2-2.

The Patriots next game will be a big district matchup against the Riverside Rebels. The game will be played Thursday at 4:00 at Mike Miley. Due to pending bad weather, the game could be re-scheduled. We will try to update you on any postponements.
