Home » Boys' Tennis NewsJamestown over Dickinson 7-2September 22, 2012 By Patrick Mullowney of Jamestown Senior High SchoolThe Jamestown Bluejays defeated the Dickinson Midgets 7-2 in boys varsity tennis today at Bolinger Courts in Jamestown. The Jays cruised to wins in 5 of 6 singles matches to clinch the victory, before winning two of the three doubles matchups. Jamestown earned points at #1, #3, #4, #5 and #6 singles followed by doubles wins at #2 and #3. Nick Fuchs, Braydon Love, Ashton Johnson and Nate Soulis all contributed 2 points each for Jamestown in the dual.
Jamestown finishes the season with a 1-5 record in WDA play, and 1-9 overall. Clearly winning today should be a major confidence booster for the Jays heading to west region tournament next weekend. Jamestown's play today was steady and selectively aggressive, as the team goal on the day was consistent play and to minimize fre points given away to the opponents. The players did a great job of executing the gameplan while playing within themselves to earn the team win. West Region Team Tournament will be this Thursday in Bismarck, while individual singles and doubles tournaments continuing oon Friday and Saturday.
