Cross Country teams compete in Hudson

The Lumberjack and Lady Jack cross country teams competed on Saturday, October 10, 2011, in the Hudson Invitational. The Lumberjacks varsity squad was led by Hector Lopez.  He ran a personal best of 17:16 for the 3.1 mile course, and placed 5^th.  He was followed by Andrew Hernandez in 37^th place, Scott Smith in 50^th, Jose Flores 53^rd, Leo Rodriguez 58^th and Steven Badeux in 62^nd.  The Lady Jacks were once again led by a solid performance from Kendal Mitchell in 16^th position.  Sara Badeux was the next runner from Diboll in 38^th place, Paige Funderburk in 43^rd, and Ariela Gonzalez in 44^th place.  Competing at the junior varsity level for the Lumberjacks was Ariel Encarnacion in 7^th, Zach Moreno 8^th, Brandon Hunziker 15^th, Rudy Jasso 23rd, and Fil Escobedo 32^nd.  Also competing were several Diboll Middle School students.  The boys team was led by Caleb Stewart in 18^th, Jair Ruiz 49^th, Roberto Flores 58^th, Aaron Cantu 85^th, and Baltazar Lara in 90^th.  For the Lady Jacks, Shelby East ran a strong race to finish 10^th.She was followed by Bayley in 56^th, Holly Willsie 86^th, Liz Martinez 98^th, and Emily Thompson in 99^th.  The teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 15, at The Lufkin Coke Classic at Lufkin High School.
