VOLLEYALL MARION, Ohio - The Indiana University East volleyball team concluded an unbeaten weekend at the Ohio State Marion tournament with a 25-9, 25-9, 25-5 win against the host Scarlet Wave on Sept. 14. The Red Wolves (15-4) also beat Clark State Community College 25-13, 25-20 on Sept. 14 in a match that will count as an exhibition for IU East. Freshman defensive specialist Hunter Thomas (Richmond, Ind./Richmond High School) and freshman defensive specialist Hannah Ball (Richmond, Ind./Richmond High School) both finished with four aces, and both went on monster serving runs. Ball served up 10 consecutive points in the second set. Thomas had a nine-point serving run in the final set. IU East totaled 16 aces against OSU Marion. IU East hosts Indiana University Kokomo in a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at Seton Catholic High School. IU Kokomo (13-1 overall) leads the KIAC with a 4-0 league record. It's the "Retro Night" match for IU East. IU East students will receive 1970s-style t-shirts. Fans are encouraged to wear 1970s attire.
CROSS COUNTRY WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Indiana University East junior cross country runner Seth Prince ran the third-fastest 8K time in the program's NAIA history to highlight the Red Wolves' performance at the Grace College Lancer Invitational on Sept. 14. Prince (Albany, Ind./Delta High School) finished seventh in 27:00 as IU East had five men's runners finish an 8K race in less than 30 minutes for the first time since 2011. IU East was sixth in the men's team standings. Sophomore Kearstin McDaniel (Hagerstown, Ind./Hagerstown High School) led the IU East women with a 5K time of 23:21.80 Every Red Wolf ran a season-best. Sophomore Kyle Hall (Dillsboro, Ind./South Dearborn High School) ran an 8K career best of 29:29. IU East competes at the Indiana Intercollegiates on Sept. 20 at Indiana University Bloomington.

WABASH, Ind. - Jordyn Sparks shot a fall-best 89 to pace the Indiana University East women's golf team at the Manchester University Fall Invitational at Honeywell Golf Course. Sparks (Liberty, Ind./IUPUI), a senior, finished just nine strokes behind medalist Brooke McKay of team champion Hanover College. McKay shot 80 on the 5,833-yard, par 72 course. Red Wolves freshman Candice Worland (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis High School) shot 98 for IU East. The event concluded a busy stretch of three tournaments in five days for IU East. The Red Wolves return to the links Sept. 27 and 28 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Fall Invitational.
