KIAC BASEBALL, SOFTBALL AND MEN’S GOLF PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Berea, Ky. (March 18th, 2013) - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for March 11th – March 17h in Baseball, Softball and Men’s Golf.

 

Bethany Sullivan, Indiana Southeast University – Softball Pitcher of the Week

5-7 Junior – Terre Haute, IN

 

Indiana Southeast University junior Bethany Sullivan was named the KIAC softball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 18th.  This is her second conference pitcher of the week award for the season.

 

Sullivan pitched 8 innings in two games last week and earned the win in both contests. She pitched four innings and only allowed 2 hits while striking out 4 in a 13-0 win against Briar Cliff. The junior pitcher also pitched four innings and struck out 4 in a 10-3 win against Roosevelt. Sullivan is currently 5-0 on the season and has a 0.84 earned run average. The opposition is only batting .191 over her 25 innings pitched this season.

 

IU Southeast is currently 8-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will return to action on March 21st when they host Alice Lloyd College for a doubleheader.

 

 

Jordan Batliner, Indiana University Southeast – Softball Player of the Week

5-7 Sophomore – Floyds Knobs, IN

 

Indiana Southeast University sophomore Jordan Batliner was named the KIAC softball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 18th. This is her second conference player of the week award for the season.

 

Batliner finished the week with a .467 batting average (7-for-15) as the Grenadiers finished the week with a 4-0 record. The IU Southeast sophomore had three multi-hit games including a 3-for-4 game against West Virginia Tech. For the week, she had two doubles, one homerun, 5 runs-batted-in, and scored 4 runs. She is currently batting .422 (19-for-45) on the season.

 

IU Southeast is currently 8-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They will return to action on March 21st when they host Alice Lloyd College for a doubleheader.

 

 

Joey Smart, Indiana University East – Men’s Golfer of the Week

Sophomore – Brookville, IN

 

Indiana University East sophomore Joey Smart was named the KIAC men’s golfer of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 18th

 

IU East participated in the Brescia University Spring Shootout on March 16th. Smart finished the shootout with a 5-over 76 on the par 71, 6,385-yard course. He finished five strokes out of first place and was named to the all-tournament team. The Red Wolves will return to action on March 29th at the Berea College Spring Tee-Off at the Battlefield Golf Club.

 

 

Lucas Harry, Indiana University Southeast – Baseball Pitcher of the Week

6-4 Senior – Louisville, KY

 

Indiana University Southeast senior Lucas Harry was named the KIAC baseball pitcher of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 18th.

 

Harry pitched in a pair of games last week and earned the win in both contests. In five innings against Oakland City, he only allowed 2 hits and struck out 7 as IU Southeast won the game 11-0. He pitched seven innings and struck out 9 in a 9-3 win against Berea College. The senior pitcher is now 4-1 on the season with a 1.67 earned run average. He currently ranks 23rd in NAIA opposition batting average (.174).

 

IU Southeast is currently 10-10 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They will return to action on March 19th when they travel to Shawnee State University for a doubleheader.

 

 

Jordan Crowell, Point Park University – Baseball Player of the Week

6-2 Sophomore – Milford, OH

 

Point Park University sophomore Jordan Crowell was named the KIAC baseball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, March 18th.

 

Crowell hit .571 (8-for-14) and slugged .786 with a homerun and 5 runs batted in last week. The Pioneers played a 4 game series against Asbury and finished 2-2. The sophomore third baseman recorded a hit in each game and a pair of 3-hit games as well. Crowell currently is batting .440 (11-for-25) and leads the Pioneers with a .560 slugging percentage.

 

Point Park University is currently 9-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play. They will return to action on March 22nd when they travel to Alice Lloyd College for a doubleheader.
