RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team picked up a 93-80
home Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win on Jan. 26 against Berea
College in the Richmond High School Tiernan Center
The Red Wolves (15-7, 5-2) earned their fourth consecutive win and moved into a tie
for second place in the KIAC standings by leading almost from start to finish
against a Berea team (13-9, 5-2) that had won six of seven games since its current
roster took shape.
IU East won on the strength of 25 points from senior guard Marcus Isaac
(Indianapolis, Ind./Purdue University North Central) and 21 points from sophomore
guard Tyler Fangman (Cold Spring, Ky./Beechwood High School).
Isaac had 20 of his points in the first half, when IU East sprinted to an 18-point
lead in the first 10 minutes.
Fangman scored 11 of his points in the first five minutes of the second half to keep
the Red Wolves' lead at double digits despite Berea's best run of the afternoon.
Berea would get no closer than 11 in the last 15 minutes.
"We struggled at the end of the first half, but we put our foot on the gas and made
a statement at the start of the second half," Fangman said.
Aaon Ponder led Berea with 19 points.
IU East hosts KIAC opponent Cincinnati Christian University on Jan. 29 in the
Richmond High School Tiernan Center. Tipoff time is 7 p.m.
