MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: BELLEVUE 81, IU EAST 58

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team fell 81-58
against No. 19 Bellevue University on Jan. 5 on the final day of the College of the
Ozarks McDonalds Classic. The event was played at the host site for the NAIA
Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.
IU East (11-5) finished the two-day event with a 1-1 record. Bellevue, which was 2-0
for the weekend, improved to 9-7 overall. The Red Wolves had a six-game winning
streak snapped.
"They were really physical. We hadn't played anybody that physical all year," said
junior forward Josh Cook (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa High School). "They took it to
the hole, and all of our shots were contested, and we don't get that from many
teams."
Bellevue outrebounded IU East 37-20 and enjoyed a 44-20 advantage in points in the
paint.
The game got away from the Red Wolves in the final three minutes of the first half.
Bellevue went on a 14-2 run at the end of the half to build a 44-28 halftime lead.
IU East would get no closer than 12 in the second half.
Sophomore guard Huston Clark (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo High School) led IU East with 13
points.
Jordan Bernardo, who was playing in his third game of the season and whose name did
not appear on the pre-tournament Bellevue stat sheet, came off the bench to lead the
Bruins with 16 points.
IU East returns home from its 1,300-mile round-trip road trip and hosts Kentucky
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Asbury University on Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
at the Richmond High School Tiernan Center.
