UPLAND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team couldn't recover
from slow starts to both halves in an 84-75 loss against Trinity International
University on Dec. 7 in the semifinals of the Taylor University Ivanhoe Classic.
NAIA Division II No. 23 IU East (5-4) will play the University of Akron-Wayne
College (2-7) at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the tournament's consolation game.
Trinity International improved to 7-5.
"We looked tired from the tip, and I have no clue why," said IU East coach Mark
Hester. "We just didn't put forth the effort in the things that matter that help you
The Red Wolves whittled an early 14-point deficit down to two points by halftime and
tied it at 37 early in the second half.
The Trojans needed less than five minutes to rebuild their lead to double digits.
Trinity International's lead maxed out at 13 with 10 minutes remaining
IU East would get within seven on multiple occasions, but no closer.
Sophomore guard Huston Clark (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo High School) led IU East with a
career-high 29 points.
"He played like a warrior," Hester said.
Allen Lott led Trinity International with 22 points.
