IU EAST CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER EARNS NATIONAL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE HONORS

Indiana University East cross country runner Shawna Smith (Lynn, Ind./Purdue
University) has been named to the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete list, the NAIA
recently announced.
Smith is one of 317 runners across the nation to earn the honor.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point
average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have junior academic status.
Smith, a senior is majoring in elementary education. She is the second IU East cross
country runner to earn back-to-back Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
